Middlesex Township police were called to the Travel Lodge motel for a possible sexual assault of a minor under the age of 16 just before midnight, according to a release by the department.

“Various forms of evidence and statements” led police to charge Edwin Medina Pabon, 39, with statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault without consent, corruption of minors, and endangering the welfare of a child, as stated in the release.

Pabon was arrested on a warrant at his motel room the following evening.

He has previously served time for drug manufacturing in 2001, he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence later that same year, and he was out on the reduced $49,000— down from $75,000— bail as he awaited sentencing after pleading guilty to Simply Assault and Recklessly Endangering another person in April 2021 at the time of the alleged rape of a minor, court records show.

His sentencing for the assault has been scheduled before Judge Christylee L. Peck in Courtroom 2 at 9:30 a.m. on June 21, according to his court dockets.

His preliminary hearing for the rape case has yet to be scheduled, but he remains in custody at Cumberland County Prison at the time of publishing, according to public records.
